Better Schools – The Capital Plan will deliver €3.8 billion in direct funding for primary, secondary, and third level facilities. This will mean more places for children, better and more modern school buildings for them to learn in, and better funding for research at third level.
Better Health – better health services means better facilities for vital treatments for those who need them most. The Capital Plan will provide €450 million funding for improvements to nursing homes, and for the provision of more Primary Care centres.
Better Connectivity – better broadband is vital to the development of local communities throughout Ireland. Better connectivity brings better quality of life and better opportunities for jobs and growth. the Capital Plan is investing significantly to deliver better broadband services.
Better for Commuters – better transport services and daily commuting are important issues for families. Over the next five years €3.6 billion will be spent on major public transport services in Dublin and elsewhere. This includes new rail and bus services for Dublin and the Greater Dublin Area, and road improvements throughout the country.
Better Garda Stations – To improve crime prevention and make communities safer, the Capital Plan is investing in new IT systems for Garda Stations, and an extensive modernisation and refurbishment of facilities and buildings.
Better Housing – The Capital Plan includes an additional €500 million for social housing projects to boost our €4 billion housing plan. There will also be a major investment in flood relief schemes to protect homes at risk from flooding.

- Redesigned Dart Underground Project

- €55 million to complete the youth justice project at Oberstown and to invest in Early Years and Youth Programme

- Investment in a range of flagship capital projects to serve as part of the 1916 Commemorations:
- the GPO Interpretative Centre which will showcase the role of the GPO in the history of the foundation of the State;
- the restoration of Richmond Barracks, in particular the building where the 1916 leaders were interned and court-martialled;
- a Tenement Museum at No. 14 Henrietta Street as a centre for the exploration of Georgian and tenement life in Dublin;
- the refurbishment and upgrading of Kilmainham Gaol and Courthouse to provide an enriched visitor experience;
- the restoration of the Kevin Barry Rooms at the National Concert Hall where the Treaty ratification debates took place; and
- the provision of a new Military Archives space at Cathal Brugha Barracks.
- Acquisition of the National Monument at 14-17 Moore Street to allow for the development of a 1916 Commemorative Centre which will enhance and complement the facility being developed at the GPO
